"I think of both my life and my art as a continuous struggle for balance. The creative
process versus the necessity of business; hours in my studio versus hours at home;
the freedom of a messy workspace versus knowing where to find things. I juggle two
mediums in my art as well--fibers and figures. Upon reflection, I realize these daily
walks across the tightropes define and enrich me--I'm a better person and artist
because I've chosen not to focus.

This juxtaposition of extremes is apparent in my art. I frequently explore the hard next to

the soft, the flat against raised, and extremely dark colors adjacent to brights. Thematic

and material opposites are also common: a sunset behind a gritty cityscape; a “soft”

and traditional quilt layered in cement; a primitive "stump" figure exuding strength and

elegance. By exploring these extremes, I build tension and intrigue in my work.

I hope you enjoy the results."
